Boy, was that tiring... trust me, we did a LOT of walking the canoe
through the sorry excuse of a river the Little Miami is from John
Bryan Park to Yellow Springs, Ohio... some places in that stretch of
the river are barely six inches deep, with agravel bed to boot! My
fine Pelican Explorer DLX performed like a
true champion, though it did gain several "battle scars" from the
gravelly sections, and did tip once (though not fully over) in some
class IV stuff when
it got wedged siudeways against fallen tree snag (and the current
carried away
my Grundig 200 windup shortwave radio). The journey was pretty much
the proverbial snap from Waynesville to Cincinnati Public Landing,
though, and the entire trip was great fun!

Yep, but it was only that for about twenty-five feet Wink... just a
severe shortcut through some downed trees! Otherwise, it's a pretty
placid river.

And I do miss my radio...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

A bit of a nonsequiter, but this past Onion magazine had a funny news quip
about a miner trapped in a collapsed mine missing his radio most of all,
because he was sure that news about him was the major story on the airwaves
and he was missing it.

Or maybe not such a nonsequiter at all?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
