Hey,
I just bought a 1995 GTX for 400 dollars because it didn't run. Well, a new
battery and a fuel selector valve solved that problem. It runs great now,
but it only goes around 45 mph. What kind of tweaks can you do to a jet ski
to make it faster? Anything cheap and easy that can give me a few extra
mph?
thanks,

Your not going to get a whole lot more out of a 95...
That's a 70hp motor, and a lotta hull to push around! you could pick up a
little with a different impeller, but IMO wouldn't be worth the $$$ on that
old of a ski. YMMV
It's still a whole bunch of fun though, especially for $400.00!

Could be... but I know the 94 was 70hp, and the 95 still had a 650 in it.
*shrug* the boat didn't change much except for the mirrors, and gas tank
size...
I had a whole lotta fun on my 94GTX though! and it's still alive and well
in Motown! (sold it to a friend)
I know the 95 XP had 85 hp ..
at any rate, all TAME by today's standards ! it's funny, what we thought
was BIG then, is laughable now ..
times a changin!

I have 2 of them.
85 HP. Not much you can do to the motor to gain more speed. 45 to 50 is
tops. I installed better impellors and intake grates with a scoop. I
gained 5 mph that way alone.
You may want to get your carbs cleaned and check all your hoses. Some of
them break apart as they get old. Change the pump oil. You can bet it has
not been changed in quite some time, and probably has some water in it.
That will kill the bearings and cost you big time.
It is worth it to have the ski checked by a good Seadoo mechanic if it has
been sitting for a while. You dont want to get stuck out somewhere with no
help.
Both of my skis run great and I have had no problems.

According to the book I have, the 95 GTX has a 657 at 85HP. Then it goes
into a big safety speech.
I will check it again, cause I could be wrong.
