The volley has to stop somewhere. And it isn't necessarily have to be at the
servers feet.
Anonymity is a defense mechanism against any number of real and perceived
threats. I don't think it's manly at all to make public, details about your
life that might draw the attention of unsavory characters. That is just poor
judgment.
I will support any legitimate efforts to clean this place up.

What is NOT manly is criticizing the life, boat, gear, whatever of
others, and refusing to put into play, for example, what boats, motors,
trailers, you own.

I am merely pointing out that it is not manly to attack others for
their, in this case, purchasing decisions, when you haven't the balls to
put your own similar decisions into play.

Let's say I posted that I had just purchased, oh, a Ford truck, and that
you posted, about 327 times, that you didn't think much of Ford trucks.
So, at some point you were asked, "So, what truck do you drive?" And you
responded, "Oh, I'm not going to tell you..."

That is not "manly" behavior.

Do you think it is?

Please, let him have his way. When enough people stop talking to him, he'll
change or go elsewhere.

What it is is a case of one person exercising poor judgment and trying to
goad another person into doing the same thing.

Telling people what brand and model of boat you have is poor judgment?

For what it's worth, the free Zone Alarm doesn't stack up very well these
days. It leaks.

I'm using ZA with Comcast, and have no problems. I have read of it
causing problems with some setups, though. Same for McAfee.
What happened to you may have been coincidence, or how it was set
up and used, or just "doesn't work for my system.".
But whatever works is always best.

You're probably right. No one has mentioned the Windows firewall, that I

It protects people from scanning for open IP and getting in, but does
not protect from you picking up an unknown a trojan or spyware and them
sending info out.

Does the McAfee firewall prevent that? I'm not talking about the virus
scan, just the firewall.
