"A River Festival with a Musical Flair"

Never in the history of AW's Gauley Fest has so much effort been put into
the "scheduled" entertainment. In 2003, three bands and the IR Big Gun Show
will grace the Fest's stage. Music will start at 5:00 PM and continue until
the wee hours of the morning.

Each of the three bands playing the Fest has a direct connection to the
whitewater world.

The Brown Dog Band includes three kayakers and while the core of their sound
is based on bluegrass, the Brown Dogs often leak and lapse into a variety of
other musical styles. As the band is composed of young chronic grad
students and old guys who want to quit their jobs, they tend to have a lot
of fun when they play and hopefully will infect the audience as well.

The Brown Dog Band will also be playing for an intimate audience Friday,
September 19th at 8:30 PM.

Various incarnations of Club Dub have been dishing out the music for the
Bluegrass Whitewater Association for years. Club Dub will bring its
eclectic sounds of Dub, Reggae, Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, and swank tinged R&B to
the Fest. Club Dub's music moves from back country Caribbean to full force
Funk.

Back by popular demand to headline the biggest whitewater party in the
world, Strut promises to get your groove on as they make their second
appearance at Gauley Fest.

Strut Production, a trio made up of guitar (Casey Cramer), bass (Elijah
Cramer), and drums (Pat Thomas), grew up together on the Farm, formerly a
commune and now a small intentional community in Summertown, TN. Being
raised at a place such as the Farm set the stage for a wide variety of
musical genres they were exposed to. So depending on the elements
surrounding them, Strut will dip into anything from High-paced funk, to deep
hypnotizing grooves, to their patented style of "metal strut funk", they
also touch flavors in Latin rhythms, classic rock, jazz & hip-hop. They now
reside in Asheville where paddlers from all over Western NC regularly check
out their shows after paddling.
