Bernie,
I own those flexible blue strips that another fellow posted. They're
not much good for transfering long curves, because unlike a flexible
batten, they don't follow smooth curves. The curves usually end up with
bumps in them. They're more useful for complex curves that would be
hell to transcribe otherwise.
In "Yacht Designing and Planning", Howard Chapelle devotes an entire
section to drawing techniques and tools. If I remember correctly, he
uses bought forms for irregular curves and wood battens for regular
ones. His battens thin out towards the ends so that you get a fair
curve. It's worth picking up from the library. I gotta admit, though,
that after reading it I decided drawing wasn't for me.
