I am looking to add some mods to my GP1200R and XL1200Ltd this year. Just
curious to see what you guys suggest... Here is what I did to them already :
2000 GP1200R: Intake Grate, Ride Plate, Trim Tabs
1999 XL1200Ltd: Intake Grate
I know, not much, but I planned on doing these:
GP1200R: Solas Concord Impeller (What kind? 13/19?), D-Plate, Flame
Arrestors
XL1200Ltd: Solas Concord Impeller (What kind? 12/18?)
Any thing you guys suggest or suggest me not getting? Any help would be
great. Thanks.. The XL1200Ltd for towing a fair bit and for top speed, quick
response....And the GP1200R for top speed and quick response.

Go over to the Riva forum and type in GPR or XL1200 for some headings on
what needs to be done. First, and foremost, add the pump plug kit AND
re-seal the pump. The GPR will respond well to a Solas Concord 13/19.
Also, goto to waveeater.com and order the powervalve connectors and the
retaining clips - don't fail to do this for both skis or you will be
replacing very expensive motors (again, search Riva to see why but there
are huge problems with the powervalves and the clips solve it completely
and inexpensively ($100.00 for clips and connectors for each ski). You
already mentioned removing the cat and installing a D plate. Supposedly
no performance gain but I find the throttle response is better with the
cooler temps (no, you do not need to rejet - I never have and have put
well over 250 hours on one GPR that is still going strong for the new
owner and 130+ on my current one). I'm not a big fan of the intake
grates and trim tabs that you've added, I believe they take some speed
off and I think the handling of the ski is already exceptional. All of
these mods are simple, inexpensive and will keep you on regular pump
gas. I'm not sure which Solas they recommend for the XL1200 - the Riva
forum will be able to tell you. Oh, save your money on the flame
arrestors - they will do nothing without additional engine mods. Your
GPR will become a 66mph, reliable ski (dont' know with the tabs and grate).
