I need to replace my knackered 1.5 and have seen a 2.2 advertised, does
anybody know how different these 2 engines are? Could the marinising
parts off a 1.5 be used on a land based 2.2? And how much bigger
physically is the 2.2? Any other relevant info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Roy

Yes - I know.

No - the 2.2 is much larger - from memory about 6 inches longer, more
with flywheel housing, and also the same in height.

They used 2 volt heater plugs, but I understand ASAP can now supply 12
volt ones. Inline pump versions used a throttle butterfly and I could
not recomend this, later ones used DPA pumps.

The 2.2 is obsolecent, so parts will ebcoem increasingly difficult to
find.

I think that you would do far better looking for an automotive BMC1.8.
I know the 1.5 manifold & head will fit, but do not think the flywheel
housing will.
