| I must cover my plywood with epoxy (of course) in a stitch and glue boat.
I'm thinking adding a dark green pigment would make for a durable camo job.
Right? Wrong? "Am I an idiot"?

| It will work just fine... You can do either powdered pigment, or
liquid... Actually, RIT dye will work quite well also... Look a tthe
Gougeon site for West System epoxy... One of their back news letters
describes the experiments they did with coloring the epoxy...

You are correct. Epoxy should also be painted with an U V. inhibited paint
as it tends to chalk after an few years.

coats. The aluminum dust provides UV protection for the fabric underneath..
I've done some fiberglass parts that way too.
It works fine.

Aluminum might be the answer to another type of boat...say a fly-fishing
layout boat....but for a sneak boat for duck hunting, it wouldn't be the

Probably not outrageously,
but more so that a coat of paint.
Thing is, when the paint ages and deteriorates,
so does the UV protection...
