Lake Memphramagog

I'm a US citizen living in northern New Hampshire. I have a small
boat on a trailer.

This coming summer, we were planning on making a few trips to Lake
Memphremagog in Vermont and going up to the restaurants in Magog in
Quebec. I was under the impression that what was necessary was to
notify the Canadian border authorities (there are supposed to be
phones at the launching areas in Norton, Vermont) that we are doing
that and name the folks in our party. Is that now or is this about to
be changed?
