Clearwater pier picture shows two high cranes. Must be building some
high rises. I remember when Clearwater was fun, not crowded. The Tampa
Bay area was quite lazy for a long period of time. I lived in Oldsmar
in 1968 and it was a tiny little town with nothing in between it and
Tampa. We could fairly safely ride our bikes over the two lane bridge
to Safety Harbor and Phillipe Park. Fished off of Dunedin Causeway
every weekend, they were building the first condo building there! >> Stay informed about: Lake Michigan webcam - brrrrrrrrr! |

That would have been the old Skyway Bridge, part of which is still
there and used as a fishing pier. >> Stay informed about: Lake Michigan webcam - brrrrrrrrr! |

Yeah, it's a shame. The whole Tampa Bay area used to be so nice. Heck,
I remember when Busch Gardens was just the animals and a tour of the
factory, and I believe it was $2.00 a car load! >> Stay informed about: Lake Michigan webcam - brrrrrrrrr! |

The little town I lived in is all grown up, like the rest of the area.
It was right on the bay, our house was two small blocks from the
village pier! All of the houses were old spanish style houses, there
wasn't a single traffic light in the town. Had to go to Tampa for a
Piggly Wiggly size grocery store! We swam almost every day at the
little village park. >> Stay informed about: Lake Michigan webcam - brrrrrrrrr! |

Used to vacation at Clearwater Beach with the wife and kids when it
still had some non-condo beach front housekeeping units. We always
stayed at "The Flamingo Resort." Things went downhill fast after
about '92 and we moved our vacations to St. Pete Beach. Not as nice
as Clearwater Beach used to be regarding walk-to shopping.
But Clearwater Beach is now all huge condos and heavy traffic on the
streets.
That sand at Clearwater is really white compared to any beach I've
been at.

Used to be (1970) some good sea trout fishing at the south end of that
bridge, just a hook in some live shrimp.
