Quite so. Subject as we are on canals to 6kph, that's quite fast enough.
Reactions are severely affected at speeds in excess of 7kph, especially
after the third G&T.

A speed limit of 10 km/hour would solve the problem.

I couldn't agree more.
What's the point of travelling faster on a small lake?
The report is a load of consultant speak rubbish.

I would hardly call Windermere a small lake
It will be interesting how they intend to stop yachts/dinghy's and
sail-boards exceeding 10mph.
The wash created is all down to hull design, I would agree that on a canal
10mph is excessive but on a lake the size of Windermere I think not.
We each have our opinions but we should all be able to enjoy our chosen
water sport with each other.

It's easy to see the far side. It it wasn't bent you could see one end from
t'other.

The same way they deal with powered vessels?

10 mph is a bit on an inbetween speed, a little too high so that many
smaller vessels are tempted to go too fast and make too much noise. About
5kt (just under 6mph, a little over 9kph) is about right.

Quite. And those enjoying the water without indulging in sport should be
allowed to do so as well.
Cheerio,

Well, it's comforting that the good guys can win at least some of the
times, even if it's only temporary.
Keep up the fight!

The good guys already won, this is just a rear guard action.

Put it in an envelope and stick a stamp on it.
When a local authority wanted to close the open air swimming pool last
year a petition signed by 7,500 people protesting was presented to the
mayor. Not bad for a town with a population of 20,000. The pool was
closed.

You got me worried then and I had to check - it is still there. There
was just no point in maintaining 2 sites (well 3 actually as I also
have http://www.lake-district.info) so I just set up a redirect to the
waf site as the person that looks after that one is obviously more
skilled than I... >> Stay informed about: Lake Windermere report casts doubt on speed limit |

Oh you cynic! The Faxyourmp.com campaign has had some successes. It
overturned part of the RIP Bill (which as an IT security person is
just one I happen to know about). There are others.... >> Stay informed about: Lake Windermere report casts doubt on speed limit |
