Hi,

I just bought a brand new 2004 Lund aluminum hull boat and wish to glue
a 'puck board' (plastic stuff they use for hockey arenas) low to the
transom. I would then screw a transducer and other toys to this without
puncturing the actual hull.
This Puck board is about 1/2" thick so am looking for a marine grade
adhesive to put this on with. I was at Canadian Tire this weekend and found
"Marine Grade GOOP glue" for this.....any thoughts or suggestions other
than the obvious? Has anyone had any experience with this type of adhesive
before that would like to comment? TIA...Jim

I'm assuming you want to adhere this to the exterior of the hull (dear
god...) if that is your wish epoxy will work like a charm. Marine goop is
kind of the boaters equivalent to elmers glue. Not great not horrible but
not something I'd wanna use on my hull. I'd also question it's longevity
when continuously submerged.

3M's 5200 is what you want, read about at the above link. Go to boat care
and then marine sealants.

I have used Marine Goop in the past with success. I hope you have no
intension of removing this 'puck board' because I have never seen it let go
of anything. I glued a bilge pump, a plastic base, to my fiberglass bilge.
This pump sits in water and occasionally a little gas and it hasn't let go
in a few years.

Try sikaflex.Avaiable at any marine store worth going into.

I'll second the 3M 5200 recommendation. My local Canadian Tire (not a big
one) usually stocks it in the marine section.

I don't want to confuse you as 3M 5200 is great stuff if your addition
is permanent and you never want to remove what you've attached. You
will need a chisel or grinder to get it off along with your transducer.
If I may add that 3M 4200 has similar properties and remains flexible
forever. Just wanted to let you know.

No I haven't. I didn't know about that one. I've just checked the
library's online database and see they have a copy I'll have to borrow.
Thanks for the heads up.
I've read a few of his books though, including "Wind, Whales & Whiskey"
which was about a circumnavigation of Cape Breton including a lot of
historical and other related info. Good read.
Also "Once Upon a Schooner : An offshore voyage in Bluenose II" which
includes many stories about the original Bluenose. Another good read.
