Oil line question on '02 Bombardier 85HP

'02 2 cyl. Bombardier 85 HP:
The line that comes off the bottom of the oil pump, about a 1/2" line, is it
a return to the tank of sorts for excess oil? I noticed it has a kink in it
this afternoon while cleaning the inside of remaining water and a bit of
oil. Unfortunately I think this season is about at the end. Me
thinks a kink in any type of line is bad, but how bad for this line? It
looks to be a PITA to get loose and redo being on the bottom of the pump and
low. Does the backfire guard come completely off with ease. It appears the
line may be easier to get to if it does.
