(Paddlers are making the following event possible by serving as on-water
ushers)

We are having the Floating Lighted Lanterns Ceremony again this year. It is
the ceremony which is related to the Buddhist event of Ullambana (Obon) in
July and August. We show our respect to those who have gone before us in the
past. People write their loved ones name with some messages. You are all
invited to join us and possibly write your loved one's name and messages.
They can be the ones who have died recently or died over 20 years ago. It is
a peaceful and beautiful traditional event in Japan, not only Buddhists but
other people participate.
