Polaris engine problem?

Hello,

I am thinking about buying a Polaris Genesis I, 2001 model. The unit had a
warranty repair. The piston and connecting rod were replace due to oil
starvation. The unit has only 18 hrs and good condition.

I am not familiar with PWC engine. Is this a bad sign that I should stay
way from this unit?

I appreciate your PWC advice.

You can't replace the connecting rod on a watercraft engine because the
rods are pressed onto the crank and it becomes an assembly. You need to
find out what the total repair really was (crank/piston/cylinder/head)
and why it happened (did the oil line come off that one cylinder -
otherwise, hard not to affect the other two cylinders if an oil pump
failed). Lots of times, the shop assumes it knows the problem and fixes
the damage without fixing the cause. It's not necessarily a bad thing
if it was diagnosed and fixed properly, otherwise it can be ongoing
headache that you don't need.
