We have a mathematical model of a sailboat that we wish to improve,
and make it correspond more closely with a real boat or boats. We need
some specifications, such as sail area, keel area, displacement, lift
& drag vs. angle of attack for sails & keel, and performance specs.
Also, information about racing rules, since our simulated boats will
do virtual racing. You don't need to know about mathematics, although
if you do, that is an added bonus for us.

This program, EvSail 1.2, is a virtual sailboat that moves under the
influence of virtual wind with controlling inputs of sail and keel
angle of attack. The Annevolve team created an ANN (Artificial Neural
Network) that can trim the sails and adjust the rudder of a virtual
sailboat. This allows the ANN to sail around an island in near optimal
time, the minimum possible time.

So what does this mean? We are experimenting with the Evolution of
Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). We are combining the two fields of
Evolutionary Computation and Artificial Neural Networks.

Our project is called: Evolution of Artificial Neural Networks We are
an open source project at www.sourceforge.net. This is a volunteer
position. You can find out more about our project through the
following links.
