I was wondering if anybody was familiar with this Marina and what their
opinion was.

==================================
Hi Paul, I kept my boats in Schmids for about 20 years. I had a 25
ft. Chris when I first went there and then later a 30 Ft. Chris. The
marina was run by 6 brothers that inherited the business from the
father. At that time, dockage was at a premium. There were more boats
than dock space and they took full advantage of letting you know how
lucky you were to have a well there. I know of several instances where
they evicted a boater simply because they felt he didn't buy enough gas.
I tended to get along OK with them, but I kept my distance. But it was
a feeling like I had to go out of my way to please them. I think things
have changed because of there is a lot more dock space available now in
the area.
On the plus side, they run a good marina with good housekeeping. The
services are good and they can get parts for you pretty quickly. They
run a salvage operation that is considered to be one of the best on the
lake.

Hi Norm,
Good to hear from you. I called them without success several times.
Finally I drove down to check it out. There were a couple of guys in the
garage or maintenance area. The fellow gave me a slip indicating their
rates. He said that he had a couple of 30' docks going for around $2300 plus
a non refundable deposit on winter storage. Winter storage was $1.50 per
square foot (measure from the bow pulpit to the swim ladder) for outside
storage to $3.50 a square foot for inside storage. I told him I was looking
for an 85 to 89 30' Sea Ray Weekender and he recommended a 30' well, I
wonder if I'll get charged as a 33 foot boat come winter due to the bow
pulpit and swim ladder. I stopped by this afternoon to talk, I wanted to
know if they have a listing of their rules but no one was there. The guy
there when I went the first time said that outside maintenance isn't
permitted and I've heard from others that are familiar with the marina that
"for sale" signs aren't allowed either. Just wanted to know if there were
other little got ya before I gave them a check. Like do they allow
surveyors, kind of hard if I want to sell the boat down the road and they
don't allow surveyors. Hey if you decide to sell your boat this spring I'll
post some notices at work, let me know. Take care.
