I am re-building a 95 GTX that I picked up used, with a blown engine.
I have installed a replacement Rotax 657X engine which I believe
originally came out of a 94 XP.
I am now working on the electrical box connection. The magneto
connection on the GTX electrical box has a 4-wire connector (Yellow,
Yellow/Black, Red, Red/Black) but the wire attached to the new
Engine/Magneto has no connector and 5 wires (Yellow, Yellow/Black,
Red, Red/Black and White-with 2 connectors).
I have purchased a mating connector for the one attached to the
electrical box, to attach to the connectorless wire from the
engine/magneto, but what do I do with the 5th (White) wire with the
double connector ?
Magneto Connection on my new engine (from 94 XP)
B - to Gnd
B/R - to Ignition Module (IM)
W - to IM and Speed Limiter & Electronic Control
Y - to Rectifier
Y/B - to Rectifier
Magneto Connection on my 95 GTX Electrical Box
B - to Gnd
B/R - to Electronic Module (Non-MPEM)
Y - to Rectifier
Y/B - to Rectifier
I'm guessing that if I match the wires by color and simply leave the
W(White) wire from the engine unconnected, I should be okay. Does
anyone see any reason why this will not work ?
I wouldn't want to blow my Electronic module due to an incompatible or
incorrect Magneto connection.
