Post subject: Whitewater Symposium news: schedule info, new presenters!
Archived from groups: rec>boats>paddle, others (more info?)

Plans for the the 1st Annual Whitewater Symposium are progressing
well as the event date of October 3rd - 5th draws closer. Kokatat,
maker of paddling acessories and clothing has recently signed on as
an industry sponsor. Wayne Dickert and Jimmy Blakeney have joined
the list of expert presenters for panel discussions and seminars.

Wayne Dickert, currently the head of instruction programs at the
Nantahala Outdoor Center will be part of a panel discussion on the
standardization of paddling instruction. Jimmey Blakeney, a
freestyle pro competitor and extreme kayaker will be part of a panel
discussions focusing on Whitewater Parks and Boat Design Changes.

Most of the seminars and panel discussions are scheduled to take
place at the Hawlemont Elementary School located in Charlemont,
Mass. Plans for a Friday evening film (October 3rd) on a world
reknown expedition are underway and will be announced
shortly. Weekend water sessions will occur on the Deerfield River at
designated teaching spots. Saturday evening there will be a "black
tie and booty" party at the Stillwaters Restaraunt in
Charlemont. The party will feature local rock band "The Symptoms" to
keep the paddlers rockin in their neoprene booties and dress
clothes!
