Roller bunks? - Can anyone have a look at these and give me their opinions? They look like a good idea - rollers to replace existing carpeted bunks. I'm not sure how they'd fit though or if there are any draw backs. ..

Number plate regs uk - Hi Cannot buy and use stick on type plates any more - is this correct? I see the relevance on vehicles but on trailers? Advice sought. TIA Chris

In the light of recent developments (the safety report on the lake
that undermined the bylaw, the Audit Commissions damning criticism of
the National Parks management etc), the Windermere Action Force are
trying to increase the pressure on the government and the National
Park Authority.

With that in mind, there is now an easy and free way to fax your MP
with a letter of your wording just by following the link below:

http://www.waf.uk.com/write.html

Be sure to include your name and address otherwise your MP will not
count it as valid.

It only takes as long as it takes you to type it and costs you
nothing. So no matter how frequently you use Windermere, please get
faxing and let the government know the strength of feeling out there...

Nick @ Norfolk?
- why should we campaign for speedboats to cut up one of our beautiful Lakes
for the likes of you?
Outsiders only visit this area with the aim of disrupting our sedate way of
life.

I, as a Cumbrian don't want the Lake district turning into a pseudo lane of
the M6.

I'm sure that there are plenty of watercourses near to Norfolk where you can
display your skills. So get stuffed.

Sean @ Cumbria.

I wish speed boaters would do the same in France. Fortunately there
aren't many of them, but they're a nuisance when they're around - and
I'm in a 14 tonne steel craft.

If Windermere is anything like the Dutch De Kaag lakes, half a dozen
yobs in over powered boats ruin the pleasure of thousands of other
boaters.

In other parts of the Netherlands, areas are marked with buoys for
water skiers, who stick to these areas and upset nobody.

Locally the main problem is unlicensed teenagers *and younger*
misbehaving in their parents RIBs. The water police budget is so
reduced that they are unable to patrol the lakes with their boat and
there is no budget for overtime, so they are on duty Monday thru
Friday 9-5 only.

Well that's the problem Martin, there are NO other public lakes in the
whole of the country that allow speeds over 10mph. Windermere was
promised to be safe haven for us when a 10mph limit was imposed on the
other lakes but as we have seen on numerous occasions, this government
can't be trusted. And as the for National Park Authority, who the hell
elected them to speak on our behalf? No one!!

I thought the whole thing was a joke, but some took it seriously.

I didn't know that. Aren't you allowed to water ski on gravel pits
anymore? I remember Princess Margaret used to water ski on the gravel
pit at Sonning.
The fair way is to partition the lakes with buoys so that there is a
place for everybody or have some lakes reserved for power boats and
the rest for non power boat water sports.
I have nothing against power boats except some seem to be only
interested in passing within a few feet of sailing boats. I guess the
irresponsible few ruin it for the rest.

In which case it's the parents fault. Maybe the ban should be on vessels
-capable- of speeds over the limit in order to remove the temptation.

I've pointed out before that there's an immense area of saltwater around the
UK where, as long as you run a little offshore, you can speed all you like.

Whilst I agree this government cannot be trusted I don't think this is a
party issue.
