Has anyone every sailed a Rodgers 24? It's supposed to be similar to J/24
or Melges, but w/ centerboard. I'm looking for a reasonably priced
trailerable boat for racing or weekend "camping" trips. Any advice is
appreciated. FWIW: I plan to sail it mainly on the lower Chesepeake and
medium-sized lakes in VA.

Thanks,
Chris

My recommendation, for whatever it's worth, is that it's more fun to
sail a boat that you can race, one-design, against a big fleet of
other similar boats. So ask around if there are any active
one-design fleets around in the size boat you are looking at, and
factor that in.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Haven't sailed one myself, but have sailed in company with one and given a
casual inspection. Nice boat IMHO.

Assuming that it hasn't been too badly buggered up by a Dreaded Previous
Owner, should be a fine boat for that. Remember that trailer condition is a
big part of the value of a boat like this, I've made the mistake of being too
optimistic and thinking that a badly rusted would be 'OK just to get it home.'

Is this guy for real???

I supose that steering gas guzzling power boats round and round the bouys
requires more skill than the tactics required to out-think and manouver your
opponent in a match race!!!

Get out of the gas guzzler and learn some real sklls on the water.
