Post subject: what do you find THRILLING about paddle boats?
Archived from groups: rec>boats>paddle>whitewater, others (more info?)

I was searching through some past articles trying to answer the above
question and came across two contrasting reports

"I get a thrill out of meeting people on the river that know me from
rbp either lurkers or regulars"

"The thrill comes from riding the line on the edge of control, and
ocassionally crossing it. It's the perception of risk that that gets
the adrenalin flowing. When you are totally under control, there is no
risk, and no thrill."

They both seem valid experiences. But what is it about paddles and
boats that's thrilled you in the past? Racing, spray in your face,
feeling nature up close, a pleasant encounter on the water...

I'm a researcher in England and I'd really like to know about your
paddle related thrills. I'm currently conducting interviews with
people about their personal experiences on the web-site
www.chromo11.com

If you've got something to say on the subject, please visit the site
and take an interview. You'll find a set of short, but carefully
crafted questions that you can download and answer at your leisure;
you'll also be able to read more about the project.

Thanks

Brendan

Whitewater Newbie Seeking Help/Advice - Hello all…..I have always wanted to go whitewater rafting and have decided to plan a trip for next June. I am thinking that the best way to start would be to go on a guided, 1-day rafting trip rather than a multi-day trip in the event that it isn't as..

Wanted: North Idaho WW kayak partner(s) - I'll be visiting Coeur d'Alene for the first time from 25 Jul - 2 Aug. If there's anyone out there that can show me some local class II/III rivers & playspots, I'll bring along my boat. Have vehicle, will shuttle.

Middle Fork of the Salmon River - I just completed a trip I've been planning all year - a seven day open canoe low water descent of the Middle Fork of the Salmon. Pics, a bit of writing, and a fairly decent web presentation: http://home.comcast.net/~dltooley/ -D.L.

rec.boats.paddle,rec.boats.touring - Does anyone here have an opinion on Sealskirts 1.7 for whitewater boats vs other brands

help me find a river - I am trying to find a river, for my friends and I to do a week long canoe trip, but I don't know where to look. If anyone knows of a good book, or series of books covering rivers on the east coast, or has any other information, I would be greatly..
