looking to get a houseboat

Most of the knuckle heads around here would rather see Bush ignore the
Iraqi's plea to save lives, they do not understand that the net lives saved
already is near 30,000 Iraqi lives. And you want them to answer a question
in regards to the remain years comfort levels of your retirement? Most of
these knuckle heads have trouble making change for a buck or deciding
between which happy meal up at Mcdees, and you want their opinion on a
critical decision such as purchasing a home as opposed to a liveaboard boat?
You better be careful with their answers. Because anyone who would criticize
someone else who has just saved 30,000 lives, well I would think twice about
getting advice from that type of person. If human suffering doesn't get
acknowledge from them, then your retirement comfort surely wouldn't be one
of their main considerations when they answer your question. Beware.

I for one would need to know more, if you plan to live on the boat would it
be in the Florida Keys or Lake Ontario ? Winters might be tough to live on a
boat in,, what are the costs of maintaining it at a dock slip, its regular
up keep, where you going to be in 10 or even 20 years, what are your
children's wishes, etc etc.

Me , I would go for the houseboat, but make sure you get one that is
comfortable, large enough, not a money sucker, and something you can enjoy.
Float around like spending summers in the Great Lakes and winters down
south,,,,,,

Can you cite an instance of the Iraquos ASKING for help? Maybe the
convicted embesler and liar Chabli Who was living in (I think) France.

And in MAYBE saving 30,000 lives, We have lost 600 (and counting) young
Americans, and much of our Treasure. WE have likked untold numbers of
Iraquis

Do YOU want to be the last man killed in such a fieasco?

Do YOU want to announce the death of the last soldier to die to his family?

I can't speak to it directly as I've not owned a houseboat, but
I do know a few people who have lived on them.

Primary complaints are humidity, limits on space and finding a
decent marina to live at full time.

Advantages are potentially lower cost of living (in terms of monthly
outgo) and of course living on the water if that's one of your
priorities.

Have you done the obvious googling for houseboat FAQs, etc.?

What exactly do you mean by "houseboat"--a vessel...i.e, what amounts to
a floating RV or mobile home on pontoons or a barge hull with engines?
Or a permanently fixed real house built on a floating dock like the one
the Tom Hanks character lived in in "Sleepless in Seattle," also often
called a "houseboat?"
