'98 110 zxi.....

went through the carbs and found no 'smoking gun'....

rough to start, gotta choke it a lot...

on the trailer-

hit the throttle, and you get the rip-pa! of it revving up and then
backfiring.

in the water, it idles okay, little lumpy, give it gas and it surges
like everything is okay, then falls on it's face, and huffs out.

lean, lean....

it can be bullied into revving up and going if you repeatedly squeeze
and release the throttle real fast to sorta push it past whatever makes
it huff out...

anywhoo.... no air leaks, at least the rear seal looks fine, and the
front seal, well, there's no air blowing out or vacuuming into the hole
in the mag housing...

diaphragm bellows look okay, but that's kinda what i'd think, theyre not
popping off the HS circuit and the LS is overwhelmed when the throttle
is cracked open... (can the diaphragms be damaged so they don't work
right?)

exept kawi threw in the stupid CV thing on me, the sliders look okay,
and their bellows look okay. i can blow into them and they retract as
they should....

fuel-

i can blow into the return line and gas comes out of the in line easily,
so i think i can safely rule out the fuel supply lines as an issue...

cylinder pressures tested within 5psi of each other, right around 120 or
so... 9 (snap-on compression tester)

to complicate things, there's a bolt missing from the exhaust pipe that
ties it to the cylinders, and there's water that comes out from under a
bolt at the exhaust manifold/pipe flange. i'll be correcting that issue
tomorrow before i proceed....

PS the boat was sunk recently, blew it out and ran it, from what i'm
told....

any ideas??

I had one come in recently, same problem after being sunk.after trying
everything you have we changed the fuel and it went to running fine(did not
appear to have water in it).as far as hard starting adding a primer is almost
a must on those motors.i have also added the mikuni high flow fuel pumps on a
few and cured a bog problem. Why didnt they just put 44 mikunis on that ski to
begin with.....
good luck ,scott scotts performance powersports

Exactly
The 1100's are notorious for being hard to start the first time of the day
and after sitting for a few hours.
I always keep new plugs and every few tanks I put a bottle of carb cleaner
in.
Fuel primer is the best way to go.
