kayak question, help requested

I use to have a Daggon
Blackwater 12 ft kayak with
rudder. I enjoyed it and at
that time I had help carrying
it. I paddle in smooth water,
harbors, sloughs, lakes, etc.

I realize now that I can
unload at boat docks, get a
dolly for distance transport
and am completely willing to
do this by myself. I question
on loading it onto a roof rack
and any hints would help me
with this.

Question: Because I'm not
familiar with other brands, is
there a sit in kayak with rear
compartment and rudder, that
is a bit lighter, yet
streamlined for easy paddling.

I'd appreciate all
recommendations, comparisons
and pointers.

If you have the money you can get lighter, rigid boats -
$3000- and up.

If you don't, check out inflatables.

A web search for > inflatable kayaks < will give
you all sorts of options.

I have your problem in not being able to cartop my old sea kayak.

I settled for a 19 lb inflatable. Not as fast to paddle, but
still fun and quite safe in quiet water.
