I'm just about ready to order my first boat from the dealer. Got the
money, picked the boat, the features, etc. The one last decision I have
is the motor. It's going on a 15 foot aluminum and will be used for
fishing and tubing. Family of 4, two kids about 10 years old.
I have the choice for the same price of a 30hp 4 stroke mercury with
EFI, or a 40HP mercury oil injected 2 stroke.
I'm heavily leaning towards the 40HP - any comments on whether that's
the right move?
Thanks . >> Stay informed about: Which motor to get? |

Noise, comfort, facility and reliability of use? 4 stroke wins, and not by
a little.
Plus, the fish and your grandchildren will respect you for a wise choice.

That's what I ended up with, upgraded to a 30hp four stroke.
Can't wait for the ice to melt .

I don't believe I can wait until May. I was thinking about arming the
kids with axes and sending them ahead of me to break up the ice on the
mighty Nith river, so I can get started boating now.
Speaking of which - what's the earliest place I can get the boat into
the water for some fishing in SW Ontario or the 'near north'? Do I wait
until May and head up to Georgian Bay for pike fishing?
I'm anxious to get started .<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Which motor to get? |

Take the boat down to Lake Erie as Erie will warm up before the lakes up
north.
