Some driveshaft noise is normal - all my Yamahas rattle at idle out of
the water but as soon as you put load on it, it goes away. Make sure
you are greasing the bearing via the grease nipple located up top under
a little black cap. Other than that, unless you've been in saltwater a
lot, Yamaha pumps are pretty durable and I wouldn't let the noise bother
me. Pull up to someone at the marina with a similar ski and ask them to
let you hear it idle on the trailer and then compare the noises.
