The last time I rode my Jet Ski it gave me a problem
with overheating. The cause is that there wasn't much
of a stream of water running through it to cool it. The
stream from the outlet hole was very inconsistent, and
looked like it might be clogged by something. I ran it
up on a beach too fast the day before, and was afraid
that might cause a problem. If that's what is likely to
have done it, and there is a way of cleaning out whatever
may be causing a clog, can anyone tell me how to do it?

Hey dh, good move leaving rec.boats with this question. This group
isn't real active though. In response, your ski should have directions
for "flushing". My Kawasakis have a connection for this under the seat
and just above the engine. On older skis, get a flush kit from any of
the jetski supply outfits (do a google on flush kits). I believe that
most newer skis have the flush attachments already in place. On my
Seadoo XPL the connection is right beside the pump nozzle. A good
flushing should clear the lines most times. Just be sure to start the
engine before turning on the water and turn off the water before
shutting down the engine (just the exact opposite of when running an
outboard or I/O on water"ears").

Thanks man. I've been too busy to get on it yet, but appreciate
the input. I rode it over to another dock I'm moving to yesterday,
and it looks to me like it's still pumping okay, so maybe it didn't
srew up the impeller...
